BC Coilovers - RM Series Inverted Coilovers

Perfect for fast road cars which are also used as track day cars. All applications have the front damper inverted (and many have rear inverted also where possible) which moves the oil and gas reservoirs up the damper assembly and away from the heat generated by the brakes. This means that the oil and gas are less affected by heat transfer which allows the damper to perform to the same level for longer, just what track cars need! The large capacity damper also helps as more oil is held in the damper and this helps with cooling and performance too. The 44mm piston rod used is also much stronger than many of the thinner rods you will find on lesser kits.

The other main benefit of inverted dampers is that the design moves the gas and oil reservoir up the damper form the hub and attaches it to the body shell of the car reducing unsprung weight within the car. High unsprung weight can lead to wheel hop or lift where the suspension cannot react to bumps in the road surface quickly enough. Reducing unsprung weight allows tyre contact to be maintained increasing the cars grip level as the lighter suspension is now able to react faster to the road surface.

BC RM Series Coilovers - Features

One of the most important factors in a coilover suspension system is the ability to dial out understeer or oversteer and set the car up to the track and the driver’s preferences. The BC Racing RM Series Coilovers dampers have 30 damper force settings allowing you to use the car as a daily driver on the softer settings and allowing you to stiffen the action considerably for track work.

On Macpherson strut cars, we supply all RM Series BC Coilovers with camber adjustable front top plates which will allow you to dial in negative camber at the front to increase turn in and cornering grip. Most kits will come with pillowball front bearings and where the rear damper is inverted, the rear will be pillowball as well. Pillowball top mounts remove the flex that normal rubber mounts have, the suspension geometry stays precisely located during hard cornering increasing grip and handling.

The BC RM Series coilovers are all height adjustable as you would expect, the way BC Racing do this is a little different from other manufacturers. BC use the bottom damper mount and make that into the height adjuster whereas most suspension companies adjust height from the bottom spring mount which reduces spring and damper movement at lower ride heights. The BC Racing system however, retains full damper travel as the lower spring mount is only used for pre-load and corner weighting. This stops your suspension bottoming out and throwing you off the road or track, pretty good news!

Last but not least is the bearing mounted upper spring platform. Most manufacturers do not fit a bearing to this assembly leading to that awful “twanging” from the suspension when manoeuvring in car parks or around the pits. The bearing in the spring mount on the BC RM Series Coilover kit all but eliminates this noise and allows the steering to be turned more easily as it won’t load up against the suspension.
