Tran-X plate type differential units will give your car a real performance boost and move you onto that next level. Once you have selected your Tran-X differential unit, you have a number of ramp angles to choose from to get the right set up for you. The static preload can then be chosen to ensure the differential has the right amount of slip and that when it locks, the car still remains controllable.
Corby Motorsport can help you select the correct ramp angles and static preload depending upon your car setup and use. Just call or email for advice.
Ramp Angles Explained
The ramp angle dictates when and how the Tran-X differential. Under hard acceleration force is exerted by the cross/planet gears onto the wedge shaped ramp blocks. This in turn forces the blocks outwards thus exerting pressure on the plates. This action then locks the LSD allowing equal distribution of power through each drive shaft increasing grip. Shallower ramp angles allows the blocks to be forced outwards more easily hence a more aggressive locking action.
Static Preload Explained
Preload settings on our Tran-X differentials dictate the contact friction between the plates. Setting more preload gives more friction between the plates, this means that as the ramp blocks exert pressure on the plates, the plates lock together more quickly allowing a more aggressive action.
Versatile Set Ups
Many Tran-X differentials are supplied with a duel ramp block fitted which means there are two different ramp angles to choose from. You will also have two preload settings to choose from. This allows you to have four different set ups for each unit supplied
You can of course purchase additional duel ramp blocks from Corby Motorsport, giving you and even wider set up choice, ensuring your set up is correct for your needs at all times. |
